system restore

all of a sudden now when i do a system restore, from any
of numerous points, it fails.......alert comes
up :restoration was unsuccessful.........WHY???????????
anyone any ideas how to get retore working again

Restore is not reliable. It's a marketing gimmick for MS.

You can turn it off from Control Panel > System > and then
re-boot and it will purge it's file. Then turn it back on.

And try this if the above does not work.

1. Put the in the Windows XP CD
2. Click Start , Run
3. Type the following then OK

rundll32.exe advpack.dll,LaunchINFSection
C:\Windows\Inf\sr.inf

You can also open Windows Explorer, go to
C:\Windows\Inf folder and right-click sr.inf (Then Install)

Don't listen to him. restore IS reliable and it's NOT a gimmick.

System restore is NOT a reliable service. It often works, but sometimes
not.

Always best to backup your most important files to at least 2 different
mediams.
