My system restore keeps turning off on it's own. I have scanned my computer
with Windows Defender and AdAware as well as my Trend Pc-Cillin anti-virus
software. My definitions are also up-to-date. Any ideas why this would be
happening?
Any help would be appreciated.

Might check the system restore service.

Go to Start / Run... and type services.msc
In the window that opens, find System Restore Service in the list, and
double-click it.

Make sure the startup type is set to "Automatic", and that the service
startus is started. If it's not started, start it now.

Hi Bunky,

The most common cause of SR turning off is low disk space on any
monitored drive. Set SR to only monitor the drive/partition that Windows
is installed on. Then check the amount of free disk space on the Windows
partition.

Here are a couple of articles that you may find helpful also.

Hi,
Thanks for the suggestions. I have 170 GB of hard drive space left, so I
doubt that's the problem. However, I checked out the srfail.html site and it
suggested updated Real Player. I remembered that I had recently installed
real player and I think I may have purposefully installed an older version of
it because I didn't like some of the new features. I have uninstalled Real
Player and we will see how that goes.
Thanks for the help and I'll try to remember to let you know if it worked.

Hi,

Older versions of RP can cause problems with System Restore.

You will also want to make sure that Windows partition is the only one
being monitored by SR.

Unfortunately, neither uninstalling or installing the latest version of Real
Player has fixed this problem. If anyone has any other ideas I would
appreciate your input.

Thanks

Hi,

I have sent Kelly your email address for help with purchasing the
Taskbar Repair Tool.

Hi Bert,
Thank you very much for your help in carrying the ball for me.
Please advise me about their download into my regisrty. Is this normal and
expected, or should I scream for help?
Thanks again,
hal

Hi Hal,

Most of the fixes at Kelly's site are registry edits. They are safe to
use.

Can you know exactly which one you used?

I heard back from Kelly, check your email.

Hi Bert,
