System restore

Please Help.. My husband was having problems on the computer & restored it.
Now, any programs we have downloaded will not work. i.e. limewire, cdcloner,
etc. Also, now we can't even access the internet.
What can I do???

If the programs were installed after the restore point date, then they
will not work. Or if these programs received updates or patches after
the restore point date, the same problem.

However, the computer should still be able to connect to the Internet.
I would suggest you call your ISP (Internet Service Provider) for
assistance on this issue. THEN, download and re-install the software
that is not working.

Hi Wilbur,

That is one of the side effects of rolling a system back to before an
application was installed.

Make note of the applications effected by the restore.

Go back into System Restore and select Undo this restoration. Download
any apps that are going to be effected by the restore and store them in
the My Documents folder. SR doesn't touch the contents or the My Docs
folder. Uninstall the effected app via Add/Remove Programs in Control
Panel.

Now restore the system and reinstall the apps.

Another option would be not to restore back so far in time. How far back
are you trying to go?
