task manager inaccessible?

hi folks... i'm hoping you can help me with this "new" problem...?

i recently tried to un-install Limewire from my computer, and even though it
seems i've gotten rid of the program ("uninstalled" and deleted components
etc) every minute or so i get a java popup notice that it keeps trying to
start limewire, and it can't find the program... and then when i try to get
into the task manager to see what's running that i can't see, etc, i find i
can't access the task manager??

i've tried restarting, uninstalling my java updates, deleted the 3 limewire
files that i found in a "prefetch" folder... and it still keeps trying to
open the phantom limewire? i feel like i've been hijacked... i should
add that limewire was never a problem while it was installed, only
suddenly...?

any help you can offer would be greatly aprpeciated...
