System Restore

I have problem with System Restore. Whenever I try to enable system restore
either by right clicking my computer(properties, system restore) or by using
all programs, accessories, system tools, system restore, the screen freezes
and it will not allow me to enable or use system restore. I'm running XP Pro
with all updates and service packs.
