System Restore

This programme appears to go through the right sequence but on re-booting I
receive message that it has not restored. I have checked and adjusted where
I can. Newish machine. XP Broadband.
Plain language advise would be appreciated.Thanks

I have got system restore to work on my two ME machines. About to play with Restore on my Laptop XP Pro machine (running at around 700).
