system restore

My system restore does not work. When i try to set a date
it wont register, when i set it to automatic it still
wont take, windows xp came with my computer, I would like
to know if there is a quick fix before i call the
manufacture and sit on hold for ever. If any one can help
i would look foward to hear from you.

There may be corrupt data in System Restore.
Turn off/on System Restore to delete corrupted files:
Start/All Programs/Accessories/System Tools/System Restore.
Click System Restore Settings on left side.
Check "Turn off System Restore", click OK, follow prompts and reboot.
This deletes all Restore Points including corruption.
Then go back and turn on system Restore and create a Restore Point.
