system restore wont restore

help i tried to do a system restore because i discovered that hp boot
optimizer was removed last month but i get this message when trying to do
restore No changes have been made to your computer. System Restore was unable
to restore your computer to the specified restore point. Select another
restore point and try to perform the restoration again. i tried a diff
restore point same message. i am unable to restore computer at all. i
turned off restore and restarted it but still wont let me. i thought it was
due to securom being installed when i installed the latest sims 2 pack but i
read it might be do to a microsoft update. any help would be appreciated.

hp boot optimizer was installed on computer when i got it, i noticed that
the computer was acting sluggish on boot discovered i had uninstalled it back
in sept when i was trying to uninstall hp customer enhancement experience
(something like that) i was able to reinstall the boot optimizer through hp
application recovery. because when i tried to do the system restore to the
day i removed it i got message it was unsuccessful. however i am still not
able to do any system restores that is the main problem.

well it seems someone else had same problem and it turns out it is a problem
for those who have norton 2006 or 2007 installed on computer i found answer

Yes i have had this problem in the past and its not just norton.
so turn off what ever security software you have and then do system restore,
dont forget to start security software again after.
