System Restore won't Undo

My first system restore will not get me back to where I
started. I keep getting the message,'UNDO Incomplete'.
Can anyone solve this problem please?
Or how can I retrieve my later downloads which must be in
there somewhere?

don't know where you started, don't know where there the
downloads are at. try again.
