System Restore will not restore

Any advice appreciated on a problem I am having using system restore with
Windows XP on a Dell Dimension PC.
On trying to restore to a checkpoint I get a message saying that system has
not been restored to that point. I have tried several chekpoints with the
same result.

Thanks for your prompt reply, I followed your advice and disabled Norton
protection and have now succesfuly completed System Restore
