Is there way to delete some restore points but not all ??
I have restore points going back to April, 2007 and I only need the last
two, maybe three. Thanks for all responses.

You can run Disk Cleanup to remove all but the most recent
restore point.

The following is taken from this Microsoft article.

Description of the Disk Cleanup Tool in Windows XP
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=310312&sd=RMVP

Remove Restore Points
To remove all restore points except the most recent restore
point, follow these steps: 1. Click Start, and then click My
Computer.
2. Right-click the disk in which you want to free up
space, and then click Properties.
3. Click the General tab, and then click Disk Cleanup.
4. Click the More Options tab, and then under System
Restore, click Clean up.
5. Click Yes to remove all but the most recent restore
point.
6. Click OK, click Yes to proceed with this action, and
then click OK.

On a side note, having restore points from April 2007 may be an
indication of a problem. By default, XP automatically deletes
restore points older than 90 days.

Good luck

Thanks for the information. I did both suggestions ( reduced amount of
space and used disk clean up) and both worked perfectly.
Thanks, again

No way to do what you want using System Restore. You can purge all or all
but last one but you can't selectively remove restore points.

Yep , that's good advice...I think I've got my system restore set to approx
500 -600 megs
I've got mine set at 700 mb on my C drive and then less on the other
partitions. The article says as you lower the system restore size the
oldest system restore points will be deleted. I resized mine until I had
about two weeks worth of restore points. Going back further than that
for a system restore can create more problems than it solves. Or so I've
been told. In the last year I've used System Restore once and it made me
feel uncomfortable. It's not something I'd want to do all the time!

And thanks to Bert Kinney for the excellent web page that explains all
this!

What other partitions? System Restore should only be monitoring the
system partition!

Hope this helps.
