System Restore Problem

You can turn it off from Control Panel > System > and then
re-boot and it will purge it's file. Then re-boot, turn it
back on.

And try this if the above does not work.

1. Put the in the Windows XP CD
2. Click Start , Run
3. Type the following then OK

rundll32.exe advpack.dll,LaunchINFSection
C:\Windows\Inf\sr.inf

You can also open Windows Explorer, go to
C:\Windows\Inf folder and right-click sr.inf (Then Install)

I can not find it in the control panel!
I noticed it missing right after I reinstalled XP to fix
an operation problem.

I tried the first suggestion, i do not find system
restore in the control panel.

I then tried to go to run and type in the rundll32.exe it
tells me it can not find it.

I then went to explorer and I can not find the INF folder
on my C drive.

I did look on a 2nd hard drive which is F, it is a
transfer of recoverd information from a bad hard drive.
On that hard drive there is a INF file BUT there is no
SR.inf file.

Thank you for your help

You left out one step.

You have to double click open "System" inside Control Panel, then click the
System Restore tab. That's where you can check or uncheck the box to turn on
or off this feature.

Note, you may need to Log-in with Admin privileges.
