System Restore points to a different drive

After replacing my system drive and converting the older drive to a data
drive on the same system I have found that system restore points to the older
drive and will not update restore points manually. Neither will it work if I
remove the older drive totally from the system.

How can I get system restore to point to the proper drive and do what it was
intended to do?

Try this,

start>run and type

sysdm.cpl

go to System Restore, then select "turn off System Restore on all drives",
then start>run and type

services.msc

scroll down the list and select "System restore service" and double click
it, in the Startup type select Disable, then Stop the service.

Next start the service, select startup type "Automatic" then turn system
restore back on.

Good Luck

This might have worked but as I was following your instructions to turn off
System Restore on all drives from sysdm.cpl it gave me the message .."System
restore has encountered an error in addressing one or more drives. Please
restart your computer and try again." When I restart the computer I get the
same message and am unable to disable System Restore on the drives. So, it
seems that System Restore has got me thinkin nasty thoughts about the
programmers who created the monster.
