System Restore not working ... again!

M

Michael Mauzey

I've just had to reinstall everything from a harddrive
crash (my virtual harddrive using Restropective did NOT work .. destroys the
Windows Installer) .. anyway, now
System Restore is not working. It creates Restore Points, but the next day
the day befores are all gone. So I only have restore points one day at a
time.

It seems System Restore doesn't work a LOT !!! When
my computer crashed and I tried to access System Restore all I got was a big
white screen with the words
"System Restore" at the top .. I think it's basically a pretty worthless
program!

Any suggestions .. thanks !!

Hi

From Start>Run type

services.msc

then scroll down the list to the Remote Procedure Call(RPC) Service. Make
sure it has been started and is set to 'Automatic'. Also ensure that the
System Restore Service has been started and is set to 'Automatic'.

Will,
Thanks SO much ... the RPC Service was on Automatic, but the RPC locator
was on manual, so I changed it to automatic and told it to "start" .. thanks
again.

What would we do without kind and dedicated people
like yourself to help us when we have problems. Your help is greatly
appreciated .. even if people don't tell you often enough.

Many things can cause loss of Restore Points, when they are gone, they
are gone and can not be recovered or used.
Some of the things are:
Available space on hard drive
Computer usage
Space you dedicate to System Restore

If you use Real Player, try doing without it for a few days:

And others.
