System Restore stopped working? Why?

Every so often I will go check System Restore and all the previous Restore
points are gone and there is only one for the current day. Then it will do
regular daily System restore points for a while and then when I check,
they're all gone again except for the one for the current day. Now it
doesn't work at all. Someone told me about a program "Automatic Sysytem
Restore" which I got and it works beautifully, but I'd like to figure out
why System Restore doesn't work on it's own.

Any idea why this is and how I can make it quit doing this? Thanks a lot in
advance .... Michael Mauzey

If you figure it out, post the answer here. My system restore hasn't worked for
months. When I go to system retore, it doesn't even show the calander that is
used from which to choose a particular restore point.

Hi Michael,

It has been my experience, and based on the many posts from others, System
Restore is not very dependable. It tends to become corrupt for no
explainable reason.

You may be able to restore "System Restore" by turning it off for all drives
and re-booting. Turn SR back on for the system drive only and create a new
restore point.

The disappearance of your restore points could be caused by the use of "More
Options/System Restore" in the disk cleanup utility. If you are not using
this, I don't have any other explanation for you.

LOL, JAX

Thank you all for letting me know that it's not just my System Restore .. I
did d/l and installed Doug Knox's SysRestore Point (thank you, thank you
Doug Knox !!!) and it works perfectly. You can double-click on it to create
a restore point or you can make it a task to do it automatically .. try
Doug's web page:

http://www.dougknox.com/

and type "sysrestorepoint" into his Search ... he explains very clearly how
to use it .. it's GREAT!!!

Mine won't work either.
