I installed ZoneAlarm two days ago. Ran into other problems the next day,
uninstalled ZoneAlarm then tried to do a System Restore. No go. There were
no shadow files. Later found out that ZoneAlarm installation overwhelms
System Restore with huge files, Vista non-ceremoniously deletes ALL shadow
files. This may not be your problem since my error message was that there
were no restore files.

No solution, but have had exactly the same experience. Have tried 3
restore points with the same response.

Thank you, FIXED !!!! It was my Norton Anti Virus

Another black mark against Norton - as if it needed any more! Thanks for
posting back with your solution.

YES! and I am frustrated with this! I get the exact same error notice... also
have problems all the time with the Disk D Back up files... it doesn't work
correctly and Dell doesn't know wha to do about it!

I have McAfee instead of Norton, so could that be my problem with the System
Restore not completing? Never had this problem with XP! Thanks for any help!
PLEASE!!

Are you dual booting with XP, if yes, that could be the issue as XP wipes
Vista restore points. If not, are you using any disk cleanup utilities as
they could be deleting an item or items necessary for this function.

It certainly could be the case, we find almost as many issues with McAfee as
Norton. Also, if you are dual booting with XP, XP wipes Vista restore
points. Additionally, if you are using any disk cleanup utilities, they
might be deleting something necessary to the function.
