System Restore

I recently installed a program on my notebook that didn't operate properly,
so I un-installed it. It didn't completely un-install so I attempted to run
a System Restore, and go back to a point before the program was installed.
However after running System Restore I get a message saying "An unspecified
error occurred during System Restore. Your system has not been restored."
I'm only attempting to go back a couple of days. I've tried going back
further but I get the same message. How can I get System Restore to work,
and go back to a point before I installed the problem program? I'm running
Windows Vista Home Premium, if that means anything. Thanks for your help.

Hi,

My suggestion and at this point anything is worth a try, re-install that
program and, then try to restore system. The reasoning behind this is, that
program might caused that message to appear after you uninstalled it. Let me
know if that will do the trick.

Thanks for your suggestion VistaUltimate, but unfortunately that didn't
work. I appreciate your thoughts though.

JDH,

I am not running Home Premium, so I don't if you can do the same as
Ultimate. When you restart your system hit F8 repeatedly to go into a DOS
menu where you can select "Last Known Good Configuration", see if that'll
help you.

Vista Ultimate --

Your suggestion seems to have worked! Thank you very much! I contacted the
publisher of the program I was originally trying to install and discovered
it was not compatible with Vista yet. Again, thanks for your help!

Don't mention it, we're all here to learn I guess. Again I'm glad it worked
out for you.
