system restore failure

I am unable to utilize the system restore program, when I try to activate the
system restore program, the error sending message box is activated. When I
'Click here' on the 'to see what data this error report contains'
I get this message

Error Signature
AppName: rstrui.exe AppVer: 5.1.2600.2180 ModName: srrstr.dll
ModVer: 5.1.2600.2180 Offset: 00009826

Anyone have any ideas, thanks.

Hi Randy,

Navigate to C:\WINDOWS\system32 and rename srrstr.dll to srrstr.old

Windows file protection should replace it in a few seconds. Once replaced, try running
System Restore.
