system restore app problem

After copying my failing disk to a new disk, most things
seem to work fine. Two things that do not however are
the recycle bin (which says it is corrupted) and more
importantly the system restore app (under system tools).
When I try to start it I get an error report which says
the app rstrui has an exception and mentions the module
srrstr.dll.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled SP1 - which I believe
replaces these two files. Still no luck.

Any other suggestions?

Is there a tool that can compare the checksums of the
system files on the system against a known good list? I
am assuming some file has been corrupted.
