System Restarts when attempting to Defrag

Every time I attempt to analyze or defragment my C drive,
my computer restarts. I'm running XP professional. Does
anyone have any possible solutions. Any help would be
greatly appreciated.

XP restarts like that to recover from a serious error. The first thing you
must do is to find out what error XP is recovering from.

Right click on My computer and select Properties, then the Advanced tab.
Under Startup and Recovery click the Settings button. Uncheck 'Automatically
restart'. Now, instead of restarting, you will see a blue screen with the
word STOP followed by numbers and information. Post back with those numbers
and information.
