Can Office 2000 work on Windows XP Professional?

Yes ....

Sorry. This is the Microsoft Access Database newsgroup. It appears
your question is not related to that database. You are much more likely to
find someone with the answer if you post your question to a newsgroup
devoted to your subject.

Sorry, too. What database should I have put it in then?

While some versions (the professional version) of Microsoft Office
include Microsoft Access the database, most copies of Office do not. This
newsgroup is about questions relating to MS Access not Office in general or
Windows XP.

My comments were and are not intended to chastise you in any way. Many
people end up here as it appears to be the first item on the list that looks
like Microsoft help and they realize that Access is even part of the
Microsoft family of programs.

Joe,

One other question I have....maybe you could answer for me. I am trying to
install Office 2000 in Windows XP. When the installer starts I get a message
stating "The system cannot read from the specified device". What does that
mean? ( I have this version loaded onto Win98 with no problem). What NG
would this type of question be addressed in?

Thanks

microsoft.public.office.setup would be a good bet, although it could well be
that it's a hardware problem with your machine (in which case
microsoft.public.windowsxp.hardware might be a good bet)

It would appear it is having a difficult time reading the CD in the
drive. If you have a second CD drive, I would try that. It has worked for
me from time to time.

That could be a Windows operating system issue or a hardware issue. I
don't know if I suggested it or not, but the newsgroup
"annexcafe.general.user2user" is a good place for all kinds of questions.
Some very knowledgeable people there. You should be able to find it with a
Goggle search.
