Is it possible to perform system recovery on Windows XP?
Exactly what do you mean by "system recovery"? Windows has a System
Restore facility, but that's used to restore the operating system
itself (nothing else) back to the state it was in a few days or weeks
ago. It does not restore to factory settings.
If so how?? I would
like to restore my computer back to its factory settongs but am having no
luck.
Then System Restore is not what you want. Is yours a brand-name
computer that came with Windows installed? If so, the ability to
restore back to factory settings is not a Windows function, but one
supplied by your vendor. Sometimes (rarely, these days) the vendor
supplies a Windows installation CD, sometimes they supply a recovery
CD, and sometimes they supply a hidden recovery partition on the hard
drive. You should read your documentation or contact your vendor for
instructions on how to do this.
By the way, why do you want to restore back to factory settings? In my
view it's a very poor way to solve problems. Besides its creating a
lot of work, it leaves you without ever finding out what was wrong,
and therefore very likely to repeat the behavior that caused it, and
therefore finding yourself back in the same situation quickly.
If you are having problems, describe them here. It's likely that
someone can help you solve them, and that the draconian solution of
restoring back to factory settings won't be necessary.
