How do i do a system recovery with out geting in trouble with validation?
i only have the windows xp professional upgrade disk
i still want to be able to get updates from windows update.

What exactly are you trying to fix and what is the end result that you
want to achieve? A fresh clean copy of Windows XP on an otherwise
empty hard drive?

As you have a Windows XP Upgrade CD you will also need the original
installation CD from a previous version of Windows in order to
substantiate that you are entitled to use the upgrade version. During
the XP install process you will be asked to briefly insert the other
Windows CD so as to substantiate this. With Windows XP Home a CD
from Windows 95, 98 or ME will work. If you are installing XP Pro
then a Windows 2000 CD will work as well.
