System reboot playing games (VGA.sys?)

I believe this to be a video driver/ device problem and are therefore
posting here.
My system is now doing one of two things when playing virtually any
game.
1) Chucks me straight out of a game back to the desktop with no error,
or
2) Reboots the system. (Error report returns that a device driver is
at fault)

I had a GeForce MX400 card and this problem started about a month ago.
I get about 5 mins into a game and the system does one of the two
things above. The system has also restarted a couple of times during
normal working, but this is generally after a day or so.
I have reinstalled the original card drivers, and also the most recent
set off of the Nvidia website but with no luck.
I then went through de-installing all of my video playback drivers,
such as xVid, AC3, Nimo & DivX - this still made no difference.
Earlier today i installed a new GeForce FX5200 - this has not helped
any.
Again i have de-installed all of my video drivers and installed Nvidia
drivers from both the packaged CD and from the website, but the
problem seems to be getting worse!

I keep returning back to event viewer where (on system reboot) i get a
1001 error, which is a save dump (?). I have run this through pstat
and tried to track down the driver at fault (as per the microsoft
website) but this is not shedding any light on the problem.

Can anybody please suggest a course of action which will highlight the
driver at fault, or ideally a fix - i am very eager to play Prince of
Persia!!

Thanks,

Mike R

I have the exact same problem. When it does give an error upon reboot it gives me this error :

szAppName : Drivers.Display szAppVer : 10DE0281A100000000
szModName : nv4_disp.dll szModVer : 6.13.10.3100 Offset : E89E06EA

This is frustrating since I've removed and reinstalled several versions of drivers for my video card. I make sure to clean out all previous drivers through the Add/Remove programs list as well as removing them in the Display Properties under Advanced/Adapters/Drivers
