System process problem

XP Home has this process, "Image Name" is System and "User Name" is SYSTEM,
which always hover around 30++ in the CPU column.
The overall CPU usage can be from 50 to 100 at other times. When this
happends, the system just hang. And the PC cannot even boot after that.

I did a scan for viruses n malwares in save mode but did not return anything.

Have checked another PC and found its System usage is very low.
What can I do to bring the System usage down on this problematic PC?

Thnks

What are your anti-virus and anti-spyware arrangements?

Please cite a URL that says one has to shut down AVG before running
Malwarebytes.

I'd be interested in seeing a reference to this also. I run AVG on all
my computers and regularly run Malwarebytes. I have never had any type
of interaction between them.

No, both r not running at the same time.
I only run Malwarebyte Anti-malware when need to.

Anyone out there can offer better suggestions as how to solve that System
process problem?

Did you try Spybot S & D?

What did you use originally to identify the process using the CPU? Was it
Task Manager?

You can investigate Processes using Process Explorer, which is a better
tool than Task Manager.

Please provide the Command Line of the Process giving any unexplained
CPU usage and list the services, if any, that use that process.

For further information about Process Explorer see here:

Hello

Spybot detected some entries related to Megaupload Toolbar. Had Spybot to
fix those, rebooted the PC but problem still persist.

Checked using Process Explorer:
System Idel Process = 45.45
Interrupts = 8.33
DPCs = 16.67
System = 28.79
services.exe = 0.76

CPU Usage: 54.55%
(did a screen capture to show the above figures)

When I compared with another PC, I noticed that 'good' PC's "Interrupts" n
"DPCs" were very low.
Could these 2 entries be the root of the problem?

My reaction to you getting recurring reports of malware having run
Malwarebyte and Spybot S & D is that you still have have hidden malware.

Are you using a flash drive? You can introduce malware from an infected
flash drive.

Two possible solutions.

1. Backup your data files, format the hard drive and reinstall Windows XP

OR

2. Download and run HijackThis and post details to a specialist forum.
You may have to wait several days for a reply. Otherwise take
your computer to a small computer repair shop for cleaning. It's not
cheap.

Forums tend to have more reported problems than they can quickly resolve
so you need to be patient.
