System Problems

Hi Im running win2k server with about 30 machines on the network its
the only server so does most of the main server roles. A Couple of days
ago i noticed the tape drive wasn't working. Ive checked the tapes
themselves they appear to be fine. Also re-installed the Tape drive and
done checks on that seems to be fine(i think). Whilst checking the
drivers and updates in the Device Manager i have noticed that when i
click properties on ANY device within the device manager nothing
happens nothing is loaded. But then when i come to close the device
manager page it says please make sure all property pages are closed
before closing device manager although no property pages are loaded. I
need to find the answer to this problem ASAP guys as i need to do a
backup for the machine.

Hi Chris
Have you tried running a cleaning tape on your tape device,
this kinda thing happens to my tape device often.

Thanks For the advice Shantu. Managed to get the backup working again.
Tried new tapes but it still wouldn't backup. In the end decided to
uninstall the tape drive and reinstall meaning a restart of the server
which seems to have solved the problems. Didn't really want to
reinstall the drive but had to.
