Strange situation. About a month ago, my system started locking up. Now,
the files system became unstable around the same time becaus the hard drive
was crashing. I've replaced the hard drive and that's all fixed, but the
system still locks. I don't know if this is a coincidence or if the two
are actually related. This is what's odd. It only locks after about ten
to fifteen after I start I start the machine, in the morning. I reboot,
and that's it, I don't have any problems for the rest of the day, the
machine runs perfectly. For a while I would occassionally get a pop-up
telling me that the windows loggin had failed, but the machine would still
run just fine. Thus far I have:
Cleared the CMOS
Replaced the CMOS battery
Flashed the BIOS and updated it.
Although, I forgot to clear the CMOS again after I flashed the bios...
maybe I should to that.
The thing is prior to this the hard drive crash, I hadn't done anything to
this machine aside from install the SP2 off a CD. But the problem started
before I updated so I don't the service pack is the problem. It puzzles me
that this should start happening after years of flawless performance.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
