System lock-up each morning after start up

My Windows Prof XP system locks up everytime my system
boots up each morning. In will boot up fine, but 1-5
minutes after boot up is complete, the system will lock
up. I hit the restart button and it may do it again or
it may not. It seems that if I allow the machine
to "warm-up" while it is locked up, the probability of it
re-booting properly is better than if I hit the restart
button right away.

After it stays on for awhile, it works just fine for the
remainder of the day. In fact, lately I have been simply
putting the system in "Stand-By" mode at night and it
behaves much better the next day when coming out of stand-
by mode, though not always. I also don't like leaving
the machine on all the time anyway.

I have cleaned by memory and memory slots. This is
probably not a XP problem, but may instead be a hardware
problem?

Any assistance one can provide would be appreciated

do you have any bad caps on your motherboard?
i had an Abit based computer that did just exactly that, turned out to be
hardware.

Thanks for the suggestion but I don't believe this is the problem this time,
I have been running McAfee and have been good at keeping updated dat files.
I also ran a complete scan and came up clean.

Also, I noticed that VISIO does the same thing, when I click on the program,
the hourglass shows for a second or two but then disappears and the program
never runs. I reinstalled VISIO and but problem remains.
