Three things: Punctuation, capitalization, and no run-on sentences. It
makes it easier to read and people will be more likely to help you if
they can figure out what you're trying to say. We feel your pain, but
screaming HELP only works in real life; typing it has less effect. :)

Anyway, if a virus/spyware got through your firewall (you do have a
firewall up, right?), download an anti-spyware program (I recommend
Spybot Search & Destroy, mainly for its immunization function).

If it's a virus or spyware, do NOT do a System Restore, as the
virus/spyware may have copied itself into your restore points. Once the
virus/spyware is removed successfully and your system works, delete your
restore points and make a new one.

LSASS.EXE:

It's a system process, leave it alone.

Have you run a spyware scan? The slowdowns and pop-ups you describe
are often indicative of a spyware problem. I did a house call for a
client with severe slowdowns and functionality problems. AdAware
found 251 instances of spyware on her machine. Try these freeware
programs and see what happens.

Lavasoft AdAware

Spybot Search & Destroy
http://www.safer-networking.org/en/index.html

These two both do essentially the same function. However, they use
different definition files, so sometimes one will catch a problem that
the other misses.

A great program for the PREVENTION of spyware is Spyware Blaster.

This wonderful utility has all but eliminated the spyware instances on
my machine.

Good luck,
Jeff
