System has Recovered from serious fault.

XP keeps saying that the "system has recovered from a serious fault..."
everytime I start the pc. PC works fine and I always shut down according to
"laid down procedures-- stop all programs-- shut down computer and wait for
xp to shut down. Yet when I restart the next day, I am welcomed with the
system has recovered from a serious fault.
So what can be happening? "Ghostbusters?"

Open a DOS window and type chkdsk this will scan and check your disk for any
errors the next time you boot up.
