system goes to login screen

System would always in past do a couple things after a certain amount of
time. Yes, perhaps I unintentionally changed something but I do not know
what.

1. Screen Saver would go on.

2. Would go into hibernation mode. I could get it to go to hibernation
mode also by closing lid on laptop. When I would pick up lid and hit
power button system would be right where I had left it. All screens open
all apps running.

Now, it will automatically close all windows/apps and go to login screen.

Any help will be appreciated. I have been trying to figure out what has
happened or what I need to change to get it back to 'normal' but can not
figure it out.

Check your screensaver and power settings...
Especially the screensaver setting for "On resume..." and the Standby
setting for "Prompt for password..."
