My windows XP freezes when i open My Computer. It does
not always do it put when it does it is because i
opened my computer. This happens several times per
week. The my computer window freezes (along with the
rest of the computer) and then after several minutes it
will unfreeze but most of the icons in the sysyem tray
are gone. There are no stop codes. Any ideas? Thank you.

1st things first.

1.) Download Anti-Virus Software www.mcafee.com
And run an update for the anti-virus software, then scan.

2.) Goto www.moosoft.com and download "The Cleaner" It is
under the products section.
Install update and scan.

3.) If 1 and 2 fail then i suggest you run a repair.
Put your winxp cd in, reboot and goto bios and set your
first boot device to CD-ROM and 2nd to Hard Drive, save
and exit, now when it says "Inspecting your hardware" let
that finish and now you will come to a blue screen, press
F8 and now, you should see something about Repair windows
xp, press R.

And it will start repairing Windows XP.
