system freeze windows XP

My lap top pc keeps freezing up and nothing I do will unfreeze it except to
shut off computer. Is there something I need to download to remedy this
 
"Freezing up" is a very vague term. You're not giving us any information to
work with in order to help you.

Do you see any error messages? If so, post them here.
