System Crash

My system crashed through a wierd series of events. Anyway finally got
system restore to bring back a working version of windows XP. The only thing
is that my second hard drive is missing (the one with all the backup data).
Device manager does not show missing drive. Tried add hardware but couldn't
fix the problem. Tried another restore got the message restore was turned
off (? - I didn't do this)) turned restore back on and now of course all my
restore points are gone. HOw do I get my D drive with all its data back?
Thanks for any help...I'm dying here....Michelle

Have you checked that it's set up in the BIOS?
Mike.

You might try this. When all else fails try reinstalling windows xp. Just put
in the installation disk and select install new and the next screen will show
you the disks and partitions on your drives. Select the partition where your
current system is installed and install over top. (You won't lose any current
settings and your windows system will be repaired) Hopefully someone here
will give you an easier answer but I have done this before and it works.
