System automatically shuts down??? Virus ???

Hi.

I have trouble with my system ( Win XP ) shutting down
each time the two software anti-viruses begin and reach
to about the C:|I386 files ( or something like that ).
The system will shut down - the anti virus cannot
delete/repair the affected files - trouble is that the
internet connection remains active - thus I cant use my
phone......

HELP PLEASE
