sysprep problem

Kevin Haklar

We are using ghost to create an image of a machine. All the software is
installed, I then create a folder called sysprep put all of the sysprep
files from the xp disc into that folder. Create a sysprep.inf file. I then
run sysprep ticking the use minisetup and dont reset grace period. Im able
to suck up the image fine. However on the restart the machine looks like its
about to go through mini setup but restarts... then just loops?

Any suggestions to why this is?

is the hardware identical on the machine you are restoring to? i've seen
this happen with a hard drive controller not natively supported by XP.

After I take an image of the machine. It restarts and just before mini setup
is about to start(On the machine the iamge has hjsut been taken from) The
machine loops into a restart.

I did add to the end of sysprep for hard drive controller.

[SysPrep]

BuildMassStorageSection=Yes

[SysprepMassStorage]

Any thoughts?

what is the storage controller you're using? if it's not supported by XP
it's a little bit trickier than just adding BuildMassStorageSection=Yes to
get it to work properly.

sounds like something XP would support natively. you dont have to add
drivers by hitting F6 during a normal install, correct? if thats the case,
then i have no other idea other than to suggest trying the microsoft system
builder support webboard at:
http://communities.microsoft.com/ne...newsgroup=microsoft.communities.oem.windowsxp

Thanks anyway. No its really strange as on the install of xp from cd it
installs fine. Its only when I run sysprep on that machine and restart it,
it seems to want to go into mini-setup then just restarts and loops.
