Sysprep Failed to update your registry

I am having difficulty getting sysprep to finish successfully, I am
consistently getting Sysprep failed to update your registry. I have seen a
few other posts that point to the Mass Storage driver section being the
problem but I don't think this is the case, I have only windows default mass
storage drivers in there which were generated using 'sysprep.exe -bmsd'

I have tried several different versions of sysprep (XP SP2 & w2k3 SP1
versions) and other sysprep.inf files which I know work however I still get
the same problem, from this I guess I can safely rule out the a misconfig in
the sysprep.inf or a problem with that particular version of sysprep, I'm
running XP SP2.

What other testing could I perform?

Check the path for OEMPnPDriversPath. It uses the value of this key to
update the DevicePath key in the registry. If this path is invalid,
you'll get the error specified.

It appears that all my OEMPnPDriversPath are correct, however I have a list
of directories sequentially a\1;a\2;a\3;a\4;a\5; etc

will it matter if for instance directories 1,2,3 are used and 4 does not
exist then 5 is used?

I think I will test this next.. it's very frustrating testing this kind of
thing because it's so slow, I think I need to look into starting to build our
images on VMware.

Thanks for your advice, I'll let you know how that goes.
