Sys Tray

I have loaded and installed Defender. I have run some scans and all is
working but..... Should Defender be running in the sys tray like anti
spaware did? Otherwise how is it doing real time protection? How can this be
fixed ?
 
Defender will only show itself if needed. Using TaskManager you should see
MSASCui.exe running.
 
Windows defender has both a user mode visible UI, and a system service.

The system service starts automatically and provides real time protection.
If you want to look at what is happening, you can run Windows Defender.

For build 1051, the icon is only visible if user action is required. This
will change to allow an option for the icon to be made always visible in
some future build, as I understand it.
