Synctoy - Folder on remote missing

Just trying Synctop v1.2 for the first time. Initial experiecne was brilliant
(compared to former Laplink use).

Problem encountered: I am syncing my laptop to a deskyop over a local
network. When I browse the right hand pane (Desktop) via My Network Places, I
find that all the subdirectories in the "My Pictures" directory are not
visible. If I manually type in the destination adderss and run preview, it
syas it needs to create the new directory and copy all the files in it
(althought the two directories are already in sync. If I actually run the
SYnctoy, I get error messages fro all files saying "access denied"

Help Please! :>))

not sure what may be happening.
but as a suggestion and test
make a folder on the rightside
called something like My Pictures Leftside (or
something to the affect maybe mypicslaptop)

the test here is to see if you can simply
copy/sync your files successfully from the
leftside my pictures to your custom folder on
the rightside called my pics leftside

this way you won't accidently crashe
the main picture folder on the right side while
testing your new toy, eg synctoy

Good call... for some reason I do not have access from my laptop to the
particular drive on the desktop. It is fully shared etc, and I can get there
with Laplink, but std windows acess from the laptop doesn't work... ideas?

Problem solved... somehow the access permissions to that particular disk on
the Desktop PC were hosed. Disabled and re-enabled access and it all cleared
up. Everything now works like a dream... and I am *totally* in love with
SyncToys again :>))

that's great.
but if I may offer a word of advice....
the syncing tool is great as you have recently found out.
however, it also has the capability of destroying your
data under certain and obscure conditions.

If you make backups frequently, then you have some
protection. But I would suggest to use your main pc
as a storage device for those laptop files you can
to maintain on both sides.

Please consider simply making
a special folder on your pc for those laptop files. And
make a special folder on your laptop for those pc
files you want to sync.

You can create synchronization
for these. It may sound like duplication. But it is better
to be safe and have usable copies than to discover later
on that you have none....
