Looking for some synchronizing software that I can use to keep files and
folders current between a laptop and desktop. Karen's (KarenWare)
Replicator program is nice but doesn't work as expected - it's more for
backup not synchronizing.

WindowsXP has a built-in Synchronization application (mobsync.exe) that I am
trying to figure out but I can't get it to select the files/folders I want
to sync. I'll keep digging on that but meanwhile, if there is a program out
there that all you notebook huggers relish and rely upon to keep things
updated, I sure would like to learn about it.

Freeware is great - so is shareware and either would do.

Thank you,

Bob S.

Bob;

I'm using comparator (softbytelabs.com). Much more thorough than MS'
briefcase. Hmmm, they even describe it as "A Free Alternative to the
Microsoft® Briefcase".

go figure,

Mike,

So what took you so long.......;-) Hey, that looks like a winner from what
I read. Certainly has what I was looking for - plus a lot more. It's
Freeware but if it's any good, I'll certainly be glad to donate to his cause
so he keeps writing.

Thank you for taking the time to respond,

Mike,

That SyncBack program works as advertised right out of the box! Ran some
tests (changed file times, deleted different files from both directories,
etc. ) across the network and it caught change and synchronized the files -
as expected. Very nice program and a big thanks to you for pointing it out.

Thank you,

Bob S.

Yes it was - thanks. I've been wrestling with MS sync program "mobsync.exe"
and getting frustrated as all hell - that article answered some questions
and my blood pressure is now back to the safe range.......;-)

I did go with SyncBack program mentioned in the first response and one below
yours from old jon. I thank you both for taking the time to respond and
both responses were worth their weight in gold.

Thank you,

Bob S.
