Synchronizing Data between computers

I have two computers, one for home and one for travel, one has XP Pro and the
other XP Tablet. Is there a utility to synchronize the files between the two
machines from time to time so if one crashes, I still have most of my files?
Would this same utility work with a portable hard drive as well?

Thanks for your help.

I've used SyncBac SE but I am not sure it is the best available. Does
anyone have any comparative insights on this?

Thank you all for responding, and so promptly. I skimmed over the KB article
for SyncToy and will install that since it is freeware developed by MS and
supported at Photography newsgroup. I will also print out the other
suggestions 'just in case.'
