Synchronizing clock

When synchronizing with any server, I get the error
message: "An unknown error occurred when synchronizing
with (server)".

Any ideas why?

I don't know but I was getting that message last week. I switched to a
different time server: time-a.nist.gov and haven't had a problem since. I
didn't do anything special to add it. I just typed that name into the text
box/drop down list on the Internet Time page of Date/Time Properties and so
far it's staying there.

Check your firewall settings. I had to do that myself.

like sharon i also changed to a different server
navobs2.snogps.navy.mil which is Falcon AFB, Colorado and
had no more issues
