Synchronization Problems

Hi

I have recently been given a new laptop with Windows 2000 and Office 97 to
use. I'm not that familiar with Windows 2000 and am reasonable with Office
97.

I am trying to synchronize my files to my works server from home and all is
OK with the exception of my Outlook PST file which will not synchronise no
matter what I seem to do. It fails every time and gives the following error
message yet nothing appears to be running other than synchronisation:

Offline Files(\\w2k6018\SouthamM on w2k6018): 'Outlook.pst' is in use on
\\w2k6018\SouthaM\Archive

Can anyone advise me what I am doing wrong?

You can't sync a PST with offline files (as far as I know) and you can't do
anything with a PST file while Outlook is running & has the PST file
open/locked for use.

Might want to look into www.centered.com for a sync solution I like better
than Offline Files - although as with many such products, you can't sync any
file that is in use. You need to close your apps first.

Thanks for the info, at least I now know I can't sync a PST file. One
problem that I am left with is what I believe to be part of my PST file (due
to the file size) which is now called 80000BAE without a file extention.
This file seems to be "stuck" as I can't delete it from my laptop or server.
Each time I try to delete it it comes up with a mesage "Cannot delete
80000BAE: There has been a sharing violation. The source or destination
file may be in use.". I have tried synchronizing this file, but nothing I
do allows me to delete it. All I want to do is get rid of this file.

Regards
Mick
