Sync Toy 1.4 after upgrade from XP Pro x 64 to Vista ultimate x 64

I upgraded my X64 bit XP Pro to the Vista x64 ultimate (clean install). Sync
Toy worked well with my previous version. Now, however, Sync Toy 1.4 will
not run after an apparently successful installation (tried it x 3 with a
fresh download). As soon as I click on the program, I get an error message
that Sync Toy has a problem and has to close... What to do here?

Well, then, DUH, can somebody at MS explain why the Sync toy 1.4 creators say
it is compatible with 64 bit Vista? Are they planning to address this
problem. It definitely was not compatible with 64 bit XP... but they never
said it was!

well, they haven't officially said that it works with 64bit, they just said
it works with vista. Which should cover both 32 and 64bit.

Microsoft WAKE UP!!, are you lisenning!!

Actually I remembered wrong. Sync toy 1.1 worked fine with my 64 bit xp Pro.
So why not with 64 bit ultimate? I can't download 1.1 for 64 bit XP anymore
or I would try it!

You could try a workaround found by another SyncToy enthusiast on this
newsgroup:

===================================

:

Victory (after 8 hours of troubleshooting)!! I found a 64-bit version of
custsat.dll from "Network Monitor 3.0" and replaced the one in the SyncToy
folder. Now SyncToy v1.4 works on 64-bit Vista. To get this file:

1. Go to http://connect.microsoft.com
2. Sign in with your passport account.
3. Choose "Available Connections" on the left.
4. Choose "Apply" for Network Monitor 3.0 (once you've finished with the
application, the selection appears in your "My Participation" page).
5. Go to the Downloads page (On the left side), and select the 64-bit build.
6. Install Netmon 3.0 and copy/paste custsat.dll into the SyncToy folder.
