Sync information

Is there a way that the user can get more information on the status of the
synchronisation, sometimes it seems that the synhronisation has ended but in
the background the sync is still running some processes.
The user usually has this problem with a slow network connection.
We are also looking to other sync tools.
Any ideas please ?
