Sync Exchange and POP3 Folder

F

Frank Lamers

Hi,

I am using a POP3 Account to read and send emails. For this Outlook created
locally a personal folder. I sync my Contacts and Calendar with my PocketPC.

Now I added an Exchange-Server and Outlook added beside my personal folder a
mailbox of the Exchange-Server. New incoming mail are delivered to to inbox
of my personal folder from my POP3-Account. Junk-Mail will run in the
Junk-Email folder in the exchange mailbox. This both would be acceptable.
But my Calender and my Contacts are not synchronized between my personal
folder and the exchange mailbox. Appointments and Contacts coming from my
PocketPC are synchronized with my personal folder, but never copied to the
exchange server.

From time to time I have to use the web access of exchange, I cannot see my
apointments or my contacts there and I cannot create new ones, because they
will never find their way to my normal calendar and contact list.

This leads to two Contacts lists and Calendars I have to synchronized by
hand. This is not useable.

Any Ideas to solve this Problem?

Regards
Frank

BTW: I use Office 2003 and Exchange 2003

First, use ActiveSync to make a backup of your PDA. Then, uncradle the PDA.
Next, in Outlook, click Tools>E-mail Accounts>Next. At the lower left,
click the "Deliver new e-mail to the following location" drop-down and
select your Exchange mailbox. Click Finish. Stop and restart Outlook. Now
Outlook will use Exchange as the message store. Check your ActiveSync
settings (Options>Rules) so that items on your desktop don't replace the
items on your PDA. Recradle the PDA and it should sync with Outlook,
uploading to Exchange all your Contacts, Tasks, Calendar items, etc. When
it's done, you can move into the Exchange folders anything in your Personal
Folders that you wnt to keep. From that point on, the Exchange folders will
be the ones you wish to modify. Your Personal Folders Contacts, Calendar,
etc., will no longer be used.
