Symantec Antivirus Problem

I am currently trying to run Symantec antivirus software on an XP at home
with some difficulty. The software is up to date and I didn't have a problem
until I connected to ADSL. The problem is that LiveUpdate doesn't appear to
be working, infact the icon for it on the task bar (yellow shield) has gone.
When I try to open it from the control panel nothing happens and the window
freezes. I have tried to reinstall it several times and seems to work OK on
my laptop so I don't think it's the software, more a ms problem. Any
suggestions?

Corporate Edition 9 I think. It was downloaded from my employers intranet
(and yes it is allowed to be used on home computers by employees) so I'm not
100% sure. I can't check at the moment as I can't get onto the intranet
from home.
