I have a worm/virus on my machine which generates a
message "sychost" I have reformatted my hardrive several
times and reloaded Windows as well as installing a
firewall, only to eventually have this same thing reaccur.
Is it somehow imbedded in my hardrive or my memory?

Exactly what is the message and then what happens? Why do you think it is a
virus/worm - did your antivirus program tell you such?? Did you install your firewall
before you connected to the internet and then are you going to Windows Update right
after that to install your critical updates?? Do you install a quality antivirus
program right away such as Norton that scans all of your emails and keep it updated
from the publisher website? Possibly you are installing applications or data from
infected media - make sure you scan before installing. --- Steve
