multiboot problem with 64bit

I recently installed windows 64bit on my hard drive...........no problem.
I then installed a second harddrive................no problem.
I then tried to install windows xp pro on the second
hardrive..........problem.
No matter what i do eg reformat the drive, everytime I get to the install
part of the setup menu, I get a message telling me that none of my hardrives
are windows compatable !
I have run out of patience and ideas, can anyone tell me what might be
happening.
Is the 64 bit version the problem?
I have used Acronis disc director to change the drive from primary to
logical and then primary/active and even created a new partition on the new
hardive but nothing works.
Hope someone can help.

From the recovery console (boot with the XP x64 CD) do a "fixboot" - it will
replace the 32-bit boot loader files with the 64-bit versions. The 64-bit
boot loader files can load the 32-bit OS, but the 32-bit boot loader files
can't load a 64-bit OS. This is why you always install OS's in the the
order they were released, from oldest to newest.

I tried what you suggested but it did not work.
I cannot get any of my windows discs to reinstall any operating system(other
than the 64bit already installed) on any of my partitions or hard drives.
Every time I select a partition or hard drive i get the same message "No
compatable windows system, it then tells me it has to write some files to the
partition or hard drives but I need to go back into the previous window and
select a partition or hard drive it then keeps sending me around in a circle
back and forth between the two pages and it doesn't matter if i delete the
partition, I still get the same message.
Some how I vaguely remember being given the opportunity to format a hardrive
from this screen during the setup but it just does not give me that option.
