Hard Disk Problem

Hi all,

I have a 10,000 RPM SCSI hardrive and when I turn on my computer I get a disc boot error. Windows cannot be found. This is the third hardisk to cause this issue. I called Seagate and they replaced me the hardisk already three times. There is something else acting on the hardrive causing me this issue. It happens after about a month of me ghosting windows to the hardive and beginning to use it. I replaced the SCSI cable and the error still exists. What could be acting on the hardrive causing this issue? I have 4 hardisks and only the hardisk with windows installed gets this problem. I hear that the hardisk is starting up and then shutting down because I hear the rpm go up then down. McAfee Enterprise edition could not find any viruses.

Any response is greatly appreciated.

Regards,

Joe

If your drives are mounted close together, it could well be a heat problem..

Certainly not a heat problem as the hd has'nt even functioned yet...
With any installed hd & pc off, once you start pc & hd is detected by the
BIOS,
by default, most pc will set the new hd as 1st boot priority, check youre BIOS
settings on pc start..Also,with RAID or SATA hds,by default the pc BIOS
disables
them to run,one must set BIOS to turn on controller plus enable it to run
with
IDE hds.Read the owners manual.

The boot sequence was correct.
I am going to recover from Norton Ghost and do a low level format first.
Checking with SpinRite it says that there was an error in one of the sector.

Thanks
